I can’t tell you how excited we are to FINALLY post these photos. I have been shooting weddings for many years, but few have been such a joy to photograph as this one. Mainly because this couple is so near and dear to my heart being lifelong friends and practically family. And I made a big exception to the “never work for friends” rule, but it was well worth it!!
This was another beautiful wedding that we were proud to be a part of. I remember Leigh Anne texted me asking my availability for “an unknown reason” about 2 months before they finally “Set The Date”. I knew then that this was going to be special and gave her every weekend I had free on my calendar to pick from! My amazing wife (and second-shooter) Kelly and I loaded up our 3 month old daughter into the car and set out from Dallas for the long drive up to Denver. Every mile closer made this one more exciting!
Early in the morning I met Leigh-Anne, her mom and sisters to begin the long day of documenting the wedding. I think it was around 8am, but it was so much fun to experience the entire day with this family that were practically sisters to me growing up. From there, I moved over to John’s place and got to hang with the guys while they prepared. Luckily, John had the unique pleasure of having 2 grooms-women (is that what we called them?!) to help the fellas actually look presentable.
We decided to head over to Elk Meadow Park in Evergreen . This was where John proposed, and it was a beautiful location for the next few hours of photos! Leigh Anne, the brave woman that she is, decided to go along with my creative ideas and actually finished getting dressed in the middle of the park, off the path, in the cover of a stand of pine trees with a large group of bridesmaids as cover! It couldn’t have been more perfect. We stayed there for the first-look both with Leigh-Anne’s father, Kevin, and with the groom a bit later.
After battling a bit of light rain through most of the wedding party photos (which led to great photos!), we finally arrived at the wedding venue of a beautiful rustic barn with stained glass windows!
From there the evening went beautifully, and I was so honored to be blessed with capturing this wonderful event from laughs to tears and everything in-between!
The final getaway was beautiful and unique. Leigh Anne and John drove off into the night in the same car John’s parents drove off in from their wedding!
